Have you ever wondered which things people are wiling to do for $ 5? You might have done so, and you might have arrived at some hilarious conclusions. But I can assure you that reality defies any flight of imagination, and I base that on having given this site a good glance.
In essence, it is a marketplace where people can advertise what they are willing to do for a fiver. The ones who assembled the site were certainly savvy enough to make room for some good old fashioned bizarreness, if only because the concept lends itself to that. Serious offers like “I will translate a short text from English to Chinese for $5” and “I will create a personalized work of art from your photo for $5” are found side to side with others like “I will send you a postcard of St.Mark's Square from Venice, Italy! for $5”. There were even some offers that seemed to walk the line to me, like the one gentleman that offered to call your boss in the middle of the night to “tell him how much he sucks”.
Still, the vast majority of posts were sensible enough. The ones that had people offering language teaching services were probably the most interesting, and at least one individual offered lessons through Skype. Time will tell which kind of content will dominate the site, and to which degree it will be curated. But the idea already has more than enough potential to attract a few onlookers.
